I have driven through ghost towns that have no connection to presence other than the power lines that run beside the road. They have an eerie yet fascinating feeling floating about them. I have seen an old, twenty foot glass billboard come crashing down in a sudden gust of wind. I have also seen phone lines snap. Interestingly, it wasn’t frightening. It was breathtaking and unquestionably memorable.

Only a few have seen this painting in my studio. I have been surprised at the varied emotional response. Some saw the broken lines only as a result of pure tension while others viewed it as a welcome release. I suppose it depends on what one has lived through. Sometimes she or he can only appreciate a state of calm after living through the shocking drama of tension.
